BLUE GINGER MUSIC

Chip Potter
Chip grew up in Raleigh, NC, where he graduated from basement jam sessions to playing in the local Triangle club scene with various groups such as Hot Roscoe, Rimrock, Protect the Innocent, Last Call, and others. He then expanded to the central East Coast touring circuit, playing bass with Hybrid (which later became Th’ Cigaretz) while also honing his technical skills running sound and/or lights for Wide Open and The Embers. Before leaving the Triangle, he was a member of Fifth Avenue, backing Impressions of the Platters. In 1983, he moved to Greensboro, where he got involved in local theater, playing with Livestock Players Musical Theatre and CTG. He also became a life member of the Razz-Ma-Tazz Musical Review Company, where summer tours expanded his global citizenship as an ambassador of music in multiple countries. Chip met William through local parlor jam sessions and was fortunate enough to be invited to join Nueva Voz. He is excited about the incredible possibilities growing from the mixture of styles in Mistura.

He performed in several high school musical productions and continued actively playing throughout his college days in Richmond, VA. Over the past few years, Stephen has added banjo and mandolin to his repertoire and also contributes vocals to several Blue Ginger selections. Tom
Tom's journey began in the beautiful landscapes of Tennessee and the charming towns of North Carolina before moving to Miami, Florida, at eight. It was there that he received his first guitar, igniting his passion for music. By age ten, he was already performing at a neighborhood Christmas show.
Inspired by legends like Elvis, Ricky Nelson, Buck Owens, and Ray Charles, Tom honed his skills with the help of a local musician at age fifteen, becoming part of the vibrant Hialeah music scene. In 1968, he enrolled at Florida State, where he played with various bands and explored the styles of guitar greats like Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton. In 1973, he took a bold step to pursue dreams in London.
After returning to Miami, Tom shifted away from bands to focus on Americana music and engaged with the church music ministry in North Carolina for twenty years. In 2003, he joined a Praise Band called Freeway, and when tragedy struck with the loss of their drummer, he learned drums to keep the music alive.
In the last decade, Tom has collaborated with his wife Tita in Greensboro’s Community Gospel Choir, an uplifting event featuring over 150 singers and the Greensboro Symphony Orchestra. He describes the experience as “like a shot of adrenaline straight into the heart.” As part of the Blue Ginger Band, Tom showcases his musical versatility, embodying resilience and the joy of sharing music with others!
